Bio

Emily Wright’s practice focuses on the use of clay and cloth to investigate themes of community and identity. Her process combines techniques from the tradition pottery and quilt-making world with innovative mixed material use, creating a balance of craftsmanship with creative freedom.

Emily graduated with her BFA from Alfred University NYS College of Ceramics in 2017, and her MFA in ceramics from Penn State University in 2023 where she also won the Creative Achievement Award.

She now lives and works in Albuquerque, NM where she was a 2024 recipient of the SURFACE Emerging Artist Award, the UETF Artist Resiliency Grant, and has shown and curated at Sanitary Tortilla Factory and Hardwood Center.
